Get to know Maribel Hill

I guess you could say I've been running... from myself... for more than half my life. But I quit running and leaned into it instead, Thank God! ✨

I played the uke, guitar, piano, and violin as a young girl. I also danced from ages 4-12. My early childhood was filled with all things music.

Then I became very ill from about age 8 into my teen years... and had to slowly put down the instruments, the dancing. I had Hashimoto's and Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis... which had been misdiagnosed as Lupus for several years.

The music became a place of pain. A reminder of all that I was losing. And so, I chose for my voice to finally go 'dark’ at age 18, after 3 years of choir at Ursuline Academy of Dallas under the great tutelage of Jane Chambers.

Fast t forward to 2011... my voice came back deeper... stronger... I describe myself as a non-classical Contralto.

Why the comeback?

It's all because of God's unrelenting pursuit in the pew for over a decade in my 30's, saying, "open your mouth and I will take care of the rest." I have learned that He bestows unexpected gifts... when I am doing what He wants. The music is now back on, and I am making up for lost time. I have written an album, a Christmas Trilogy, and a child's song. I have words galore... songs ready for new voices to tell the stories. Hit me up if you need lyrics, I have beautiful and sometimes tragic tales that will move your soul.

I am in a new season, and it is incredible!

I invite you to join me on my journey... I am on an open road... it's been quite a ride already... I'm buckled in with my ride or die people... and dropping it into DRIVE! Come with me... ~maribel
